The journey of awakening does not always feel comfortable does it? When we reach a place of contentment, we often become complacent and ignore the continued pull of the Divine. This is understandable and even acceptable to a point if we are aware of what is happening. However, if we have entered into this state without knowing it consciously then we have been deceived by the False-Self. We then believe that we have arrived somewhere that we are not and this always leads to unnecessary suffering.
Granted, the place we have landed feels pleasant, so it is natural for us to want to stay. However, we know there are consequences to every choice we make. Do not be fooled by this contentment as a stopping place, rest if will, but remember to stay aware and pick up the journey again. If you do not, then you will be awakened by something that causes you to suffer.
Perhaps you are experiencing this now and not aware that this is what is happening. Do not worry because you are more than capable of handling whatever comes your way. It is only a matter of stepping back into the moment, feeling what is happening and stop resisting what is. When you come out the other side, you will eventually experience contentment again. Take a short rest if you need to, but remember to get back on the path that you chose so you can end this cycle of contentment and suffering.
The journey of uncovering the True-self will lead you to a much grander experience than any place the False-Self leads you. With awareness, you can begin to learn to avoid these side-trips and take a more direct route on your journey to awakening.
